Adult Education Instructional Aide
Job Title: Adult Basic Education Instructional Aide Supervisor: Instructional Facilitator
Job Classification: Part-time Contract Length: July 1st – June 30th (hours vary depending on position)
Job Summary:
The Adult Basic Education Instructional Aide supports instructors and adult learners by maintaining and troubleshooting computers, assisting with student intake, administering pre- and post-tests, and tracking student hours. The aide needs to have strong technology skills and the ability to create a welcoming and supportive environment for learners.
Essential Duties:
- Assist instructors in preparing and organizing instructional materials and resources.
- Collaborate with instructors to provide individualized support and guidance to students.
- Assist in implementing instructional programs tailored to adult learners’ needs.
- Foster a welcoming and supportive classroom environment to encourage student engagement and learning.
- Support student intake processes, including registration and initial assessments.
- Administer pre- and post-tests to students, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting.
- Track and record student attendance and hours, maintaining accurate documentation.
- Engage in student retention activities, encouraging continued attendance and participation.
- Maintain and troubleshoot computers and other classroom technology to ensure smooth operation during classes.
- Provide technical support to students and instructors, resolving any computer-related issues promptly.
- Monitor, register testers, and manage the Pearson VUE testing center, ensuring compliance with testing protocols and procedures.
- Monitor materials and supplies and ensure the availability of materials for student use (sharpened pencils, paper, calculators, etc.).
- Assist with the preparation of materials, bulletin boards, etc., as directed by the teacher or administrator.
- Assist with the maintenance of student files, record-keeping, and filing.
- Answer phones, distribute incoming mail, and collect and deliver outgoing mail.
- Assist with keeping the workplace clean and tidy.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities to stay informed and enhance skills.
- Ensure compliance with state/program policies and safeguard learner confidentiality and privacy.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support program objectives and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required):
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates should possess strong technology skills, including the ability to maintain and troubleshoot computers. Experience in an educational setting, particularly in adult education, is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to maintain productive working relationships with instructors, staff, learners, and community partners, and be personable and supportive.
