- Valid certification to meet State requirements with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned.
- Have demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, school personnel and members of the community.
- Must have demonstrated success in working with a variety of students.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
The Preschool Music Teacher provides developmentally appropriate music instruction that supports the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of preschool-aged children. Through engaging musical experiences—including singing, movement, rhythm, and instrument exploration—the teacher fosters creativity, self-expression, and a love for music while supporting early learning standards and school readiness.
Performance Responsibilities

Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate music lessons that engage preschool students in singing, movement, rhythm activities, and instrument exploration.

Use music as a tool to support early childhood development, including language development, listening skills, coordination, creativity, and social interaction.

Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and exploration through music.

Adapt music instruction to meet the diverse developmental needs, abilities, and learning styles of preschool children.

Integrate music activities that support early childhood learning goals, including literacy, numeracy, motor development, and social-emotional skills.

Collaborate with preschool teachers and staff to support classroom themes, reinforce learning concepts, and enhance the overall preschool program.

Select and maintain age-appropriate musical instruments, materials, and resources for classroom use.

Model appropriate musical skills, enthusiasm, and positive engagement to inspire student participation.

Maintain effective classroom management and supervise students during all instructional activities.

Communicate effectively with preschool staff and administrators regarding instructional activities and student engagement.

Ensure compliance with school division policies, safety procedures, and early childhood education standards.

Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning as appropriate for the role.

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
200-day contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
