TITLE:           INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY RESOURCE TEACHER

           

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (ITRT) provides direct support and training; through on-site, job-embedded professional development for teachers to support the improvement of student learning, the use of technology tools, resources, and practices.  The ITRT assists teachers with the integration of technology in the classroom, trains teachers to use technology in an effective and productive manner, and assists with curriculum development as it relates to educational technology and academic standards.  The ITRT is responsible for modeling instructional and technology integration with students, teachers, and administrators through training, professional development activities, and developing curriculum related to technology initiatives.  Performs technology related responsibilities in collaboration with other instructional staff and departments as the school division may deem appropriate.

 

DUTIES: Each ITRT will be assigned to a school or a combination of schools. In the assigned setting(s) the teacher will:

  1. Provide direct support to the classroom teacher for the utilization of technology tools and resources that support instruction in the classroom.
  2. Work directly with school and division administration and instructional staff for the effective implementation of online programs, inclusive of textbooks, assessments, and curriculum platforms such as Canvas, etc.
  3. Assist classroom teachers in effective technology integration and the use of appropriate technology in the core curriculum program; including lessons, lesson plans, and projects.
  4. Facilitate the development and implementation of technology safety training for students and staff.  Provide documentation of annual training(s).
  5. Research and model the use of newer technologies and applications in instruction.
  6. Use data to recommend hardware, software and other resources.
  1. Assist schools in developing and implementing short-term and long-term learning goals into school improvement plans, student achievement goals and objectives.
  2. Disseminate information regarding technology resources, emerging technologies, best practices using technology, and professional development opportunities.
  3. Assist in the implementation of the division-wide technology plan, division instructional goals, and assigned school(s) improvement plan(s).
  4. Serve as a liaison to the Instructional Technology Department, in order to align hardware and software with instructional needs and goals.
  5. Assist central office staff in evaluating the technology program.
  6. Performs related duties as assigned by the departments of Instruction and Technology, or Building Principal(s) in accordance with the school division policy and practices.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A valid Virginia teaching license and at least three years of successful classroom experience.
  2. Demonstrated strength and skill in integrating technology with curriculum.
  3. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work effectively with adult learners based on their changing needs.
  5. Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
  6. Working knowledge of SOL content and skills across content areas and grade levels.
  7. Demonstrated ability to transfer research-based practices into classroom instruction.

 DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to model instructional strategies, including differentiation techniques, across content areas and grade levels.
  2. Skills in building collaborative relationships with principals and with teachers at all levels of experience.
  3. Knowledge and experience using a variety of technologies, including assistive technology resources. 
  4. Ability to maintain relationships which are supportive of both teachers and administrators, with student learning as the focus.
  5. Act as a resource that is skillful, reliable, credible, and accessible.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to function in the role of providing professional development and/or training in the area of technology use and integration.

While performing the duties of this job, vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, such as technology equipment.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Instruction, Building Principals

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200-day teacher contract/Minimum of 7.5 hours daily/Salary listed does not reflect the salary for the 2025-2026 school year since it has not be approved by the Waynesboro School Board.

 

EVALUATION:   Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy.
